Namaste from Delhi, folks! It's Tuesday, March 17th, 2026, and I'm reporting live from the launch event of the 'Bharat X,' the latest smartphone from homegrown manufacturer, IndusTech. The buzz around this phone has been insane, with pre-orders breaking all records. But does it live up to the hype? I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on a unit, and here are my initial impressions.
First impressions matter, and the Bharat X definitely makes a statement. The design is sleek, with a matte finish that feels premium in the hand. IndusTech has opted for a vibrant AMOLED display that pops with colour, even under the harsh Delhi sun. The phone feels solid, not too heavy, and the button placement is intuitive. But let's get to the nitty-gritty – what makes this smartphone launch so special?
The Camera: A Potential Game-Changer?
IndusTech is touting the Bharat X's camera as its main selling point. It boasts a triple-lens setup with a 108MP primary sensor, an ultrawide lens, and a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. I took a few test shots around the launch venue, and the results are promising. The images are sharp, detailed, and the colour accuracy seems spot-on. Low-light performance also appears to be significantly improved compared to previous IndusTech models. A senior official told News Reporter Live that they've invested heavily in AI-powered image processing. "We wanted to create a camera that could compete with the best in the world," he said. Early signs suggest they might have just done that. As reportersays from the ground, the camera is very impressive.
But, of course, initial impressions can be deceiving. I’ll need to put the camera through its paces in various scenarios to give you a definitive verdict, but right now, it looks like this could be a major selling point for the Bharat X.
Performance and Software: Smooth Sailing?
Under the hood, the Bharat X is powered by IndusTech's own 'Shakti' processor, paired with 12GB of RAM. Navigating the user interface is smooth and responsive, and apps launch quickly. I haven’t had a chance to test out any demanding games yet, but based on my initial usage, the Bharat X should handle most tasks with ease. The phone runs on IndusTech's custom Android skin, 'IndusOS,' which has been significantly streamlined in this version. It's cleaner, more intuitive, and comes with fewer pre-installed apps – a welcome change. A source within IndusTech’s software team mentioned that they’ve focused on optimizing IndusOS for Indian users, with features like multilingual support and regional content integration.
However, my biggest concern remains software updates. Past IndusTech phones haven’t always been the quickest to receive the latest Android versions. Hopefully, IndusTech has addressed this issue with the Bharat X. I will definitely be keeping a close eye on their update track record.
The Smartphone Launch Verdict (So Far)
The Bharat X is shaping up to be a very impressive smartphone. It boasts a sleek design, a powerful camera, and a smooth user experience. The price point, starting at ₹45,999, is also competitive, placing it squarely in the premium mid-range segment. This could be a great value smartphone. Of course, a full review will require more time with the device, but my initial impressions are overwhelmingly positive. If IndusTech can deliver on its promises of timely software updates and consistent performance, the Bharat X could be a serious contender in the Indian smartphone market. Stay tuned for my in-depth review coming soon! Until then, this is your correspondent signing off from Delhi.
